Gardens are an excellent opportunity for a culinary adventure. Tomatoes, potatoes, summer squash, lettuce, swiss chard, carrots, peas, cucumber, raspberries, apples… it’s all so lovely fresh! My Mum is an extraordinary gardener, and I hope someday I’ll have a garden as lush as hers. In the mean time, I have a container garden.
Usually I grow a few pots of tomatoes and herbs, but this year I’m expanding my garden a bit with summer squash, pole beans and swiss chard. While I have it on good authority that swiss chard and pole beans love pots, I’m not so sure about the squash.
And I’m trying something new this year: really new. It’s a plant called strawberry spinach, and apparently it’s a complete salad. The leaves are a nice leafy green and it produces small berries, which I’m quite looking forward to.
What will grow in your garden this year?
